Collaborative Divorce is a series of meetings for separating or divorcing couples to resolve disputes without litigating in court. The couple controls the results. A team of collaborative professionals guides and protects the couple as they resolve financial, legal, custody and emotional issues, while preserving the dignity and integrity of all family members.
Couples agree to select a neutral financial specialist. Each partner chooses his/her own collaborative attorney and licensed mental health professional (“Divorce Communications Coach”). A neutral child specialist may assist with co-parenting effectiveness, facilitating the best interests of the children, and limiting the adverse impact of divorce on children. The professional team works together to help each couple generate outcomes to suit their family’s unique needs. Couples using this process find that their agreements are more satisfying and long-lasting.
Pasadena Collaborative Divorce (PCD) professionals are specifically trained in the collaborative process. We are also trained to offer Pre-Collaborative and Pre-Mediation Preparation, Decision Counseling, and three types of Mediation. We also offer free trainings for professionals and the public to outline the significant differences in divorce options, either for yourself or for your clients (see Free Trainings page). We encourage potential clients to attend our free training so they are better informed to select an option. We also encourage professionals from all fields, who may be the first to interact with a person thinking about separation or divorce, to attend our free training so they are better equipped to suggest options.
